A cup of tea (chai)

Last year in Huston, TX a group of Desi (pakis), highly established in their careers got together to visit a New Pakistan Centre at a friend Akbar’s place. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life. Offering the guest Tea (Chai). Akbar went to the kitchen and returned with large pot of Tea (Chai) and an assortment of Cups and Piyalees porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite then tell them to help themselves to hot Tea (Chai).

When all the desi had a cup of tea (chai) in hand, Akbar said:

“if you noticed, all the nice looking expansive cups were taken up, leaving behind the plain and cheap ones. While it is but normal for you to want the best for yourselves, that is the source of you problems and stress.

What all of you really wanted was Tea (Chai), not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups and were eyeing each other’s cups.

Now if life is Tea(chai),then the jobs, money position, Shuraat in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, But the quality of Life doesn’t change. Every one of us eat same amount of ROTI or Khana, by concentrating only on the cup, we fail to enjoy the Tea (Chai) in it.”

So, don’t let the cups drive you……..enjoy the Tea(chai) instead.

Life is beautiful but we don’t know how to make it beautiful.
