Music Review
Artists: KaravanAdnan Ahmed, Sabir Zafar, Nousheen Jan, Assem AhmedKaravan
Karavan is one of the most under rated bands in Pakistan. They have been on the music scene since 1997, and have released three terrific albums - Rakh Aas [featuring Najam Shiraz on vocals], Safar and Gardish. Gardish is by far
their best offering; consisting of pure rock songs brought to life by their unadulterated passion and blitzing guitar riffs.
The title track, Gardish, is [admitted by the composer/lead guitarist] inspired by Led Zeppelin`s brilliant Kashmir, but its desi version doesn`t fail to impress. The song boasts haunting vocals delivered with a force that speaks of better things to come from this talented quartet. Must listen tracks on the album include the melancholy Mavarayee Dunya, the socially conscious Yeh Zindagi Hai and the youth anthem Aagey Hi Aagey.
The irony of it all is that they are far better live than on their Cd, even though their album is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. While Gardish was released in the fall of 2002, the band has since been making their presence felt by waking up from a period of dormancy and delivering some fantastic live performances, while churning out some quality music videos, without product endorsements galore.
