The slow unwinding of leaves

As they fall ever so slowly from the branches

that nurtured them

dripping the elixr of life into them

whispering sweet sussurations of being

Do I really have to watch as they crumple under my feet

Gossamer thin, brittle, jewel like dreams

Trodden underfoot as I zombie towards what must be done

Do I really have to watch the life I did not choose

rusted chains

relentlessly crumpling every dream that ever lived

Do I really have to watch?

The splatter of blood right across the wall

how exactly your face looks when it crumples with anger

how many lines there are today, that weren't there yesterday

Must I, make a mental table of categories and draw continuums

Of what exactly happened to rust my soul

Must I watch everything?
