General Colin Powell – A Day Late and a Dollar Short

Feroz Qutabshahi October 23, 2008

Tags: Obama , Politics , US Presidential Elections , Democracy

The endorsement by General Powell, a respected soldier and a statesman, was very heart wrenching, but what took him this long to figure something as simple as this out?

Why blame the selection of Palin as one of the reasons for parting with McCain? Was this selection any worse than a bunch of morons
(warholes such as Wolfowitz, Ashcroft, Rove, Bolton, Cheney, Rumsfeld, only to name a few) that Bush surrounded himself with? These were the same bunch whose agenda Powell helped push forward during his tenure as the Secretary of State. Now a little harmless Palin is too much for him to handle? Please sir, give us all a break that we deserve. You could have kept your endorsement to yourself. Obama does not need it, he is just being too kind to accept it with humility. He has the entire world rooting for him, and if you are under the impression that your dirty deeds (your speech at the UN, etc.) will be forgotten by the world you tried to fool, you are kidding with no-one but yourself. At least Palin does not have her head buried that deep in the Alaskan snow that would prevent her from seeing Russia, you Mr. Powell sure have yours buried deeper than you may realize. You had all those years in a very powerful and influential position within the Government, and you not only stayed quiet, but you helped Bush continue and further his program. While you were not the chief architect, you sure were more than Joe the Plumber. You should apologize to the American people for all the atrocities committed by the Administration of which you were a significant partner, before giving your endorsement or vote to Obama. Please do not disrespect 51% of the voters and those that are still undecided. Be my guest for the remaining.

Now it is less than 2 weeks left to the elections, and there will be many more Loch Ness monsters raising their heads with the endorsements as it is easy to lose oneself on a dancing floor.

As suggested a while ago, there is no better opportunity than this for the ethnic-Americans to speak with a collective voice. Needless to say that I am biased towards Obama, because not only does he offer solutions to the problems of the US, the economy, the wars, etc., but he is exactly what this country needs. The entire world is in love with him, and not because the world junks McCain, but Obama has earned that respect purely on his own merit, through his wisdom, cool as a cucumber demeanor, and just by being an American who actually carries a passport.

We are witnessing history being made right before our eyes. The days of misery and injustice and betrayal are over. Move over devil, the redemption from sins is about to begin, and the faithful are about to establish a new doctrine. Much different from the past 8 years. Messiah is about the make an entrance (or descent), and I can’t wait.
