A little girl runs in the mud
Splashing the water
Freshly sprinkled from the sky
Laughing, enjoying, jumping
Her ponytail dances
With her movements
Movements which express joy
How innocent she looks!
Then she picks a pebble
Drops it forcefully
Delights in
the splash and ripple
Her pretty frock gets soiled
But little does she care
For she has not grown
To care for her appearance
She is oblivious to all pretense
How innocent she looks!
Her pretty frock
Fit for her fragile self
Blows in the direction
Of the light zephyrs
To and fro
It clings to her chubby legs
How innocent she looks!
Her little feet
Covering short distances
She stretches out her hands
To pluck the blue bells
Panting, yet enjoying
Every moment of life,
Just like the breeze
Free, pure and exuberant
Just like the spirit of exultation
Which makes her own world
A world where only happiness exists
So close to Nature
What gestures of innocence
Mother Nature bestows to a child
A child- untainted
Unknown to the horrors
Of our new civilization,
Oblivious to the blows of life
The pretty girl will grow up
To step out of her shell
Which protected her from all blows
Ah! How sad it will be
To see the same girl
Tainted, innocence faded;
To see her now,
As a picture of "faded innocence"
For faded innocence she shall be.
