The neon lights flicker,
On the rain-drenched street,
I walk these tiny pavements,
A heavy heart on my feet.
The cars flow by,
The wind ruffles my hair,
My mind is blind to them,
Dwelling on your skin so fair.
People laughing, lovers walking,
Hand entwined in loving hand,
I
Envy is my native land.
The day withers, the light wanes,
The clouds - they steal away,
I chart a path to your precious heart,
Am lost on the winding way.
Foolish visions I harbor,
Of you by my side
Of the nights we may lie in love,
Of the times I give you delight,
I thrill to the fantasy,
Of rising with the morning sun,
To see your fair face beside me,
Sleeping peacefully, my angelic one.
When I see your soft eyes gazing
So tenderly upon mine,
Why cannot you see,
What my lips cannot define.
Mute is my nature,
Being a man I cannot say,
How much I adore you,
How for your hand I pray.
To kiss your sweet lips,
To stroke your silky hair,
What price do I have to pay,
What must be the fare?
Tender solace I gain
From whispering your name,
Under my sorrowing breath,
Loneliness is my game.
I linger under the moon,
The world oblivious to me,
To my yearning, my longing,
To my lonely misery.
The heart is frail,
My desire true,
You know not that I,
Am consumed by you.
