ISLAMABAD, Pakistan (PNS) -- The Supreme Court while formally
charge-sheeting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in a contempt case granted
him exemption from day to day appearance before the court unless
specifically required.
Justice Bashir Jehangiri, Mr Justice Mamoon Kazi, Mr Justice Ch.
Mohammad Arif and Mr Justice Munir A. Sheikh also asked the Secretary of
the National Assembly to "submit a written reply" to the court's earlier
order on the production of the verbatim record of the assembly
proceedings of the day.
The other persons against whom contempt charges were framed include
Federal Law Minister Khalid Anwar, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, M. H. Hamza.
Asfandyar Wali, Ajmal Khattack, Prof. Sajid Mir, "Nawa-e-Waqt" Resident
Editor Tariq Warsi, "Daily Jang" Resident Editor Shorish Malik, "The
Muslim" Editor Shahid Orakzai, PTV Managing Director Muhammad Zubair,
and PTV Chairman Pervez Rashid.
Is the fall of the nine month old government of Nawaz Sharif eminent?
Despite
all the confrontation, by appearing before the Supreme Court while a
sitting
Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif has written history by showing that no one
including the Prime Minister is above the law.
