Samson and Delilah

Moe Chaudry February 27, 1998

Nothing is ever meant to be . . .
I appreciated you shared 25 years
with me.
Colored my life with smile and
laughter,
Took for granted, I thought it
would last forever.

Nothing is ever meant to be . . .
Left behind in darkness and
misery,
Filled with disappointed tears,
Too smart I thought pain would
last
forever.

Nothing is ever meant to be . . .
Joy and sorrow are just episodes
of memory,
Too much to worry,
Mature enough to know nothing
would last forever.

Nothing is ever meant to be . . .
Reality announced tales are never
fair ever,
Poisoned by hearing "Live Happily
Ever",
Believing something would last
forever.

Nothing is ever meant to be . . .

2.

I had a sudden, great desire to see again
the one who lived and saw with inner light
and loved infallibly . . .

The port o' calls where so many times I glimpsed
her anxious, angelic face among the crowds,
now bore no trace . . .

I searched in vain in all her daily haunts: the
shops, the port o' follics, where along with
others
she performed her frolicks . . .

Today her face did not appear!

The places where she passed many happy hours
were very silent, very still; but now at last
I feel completely assured of her presence.
My desire to see the face of my Delilah
was overwhelming, as was my desire to hear her
voice.

What was it she wished so urgently to say?

But a force called Samson had stopped her voice
for evermore.

3.

Delilah takes you down to her place
by the lake . . .
Samson waddles up and down the
glades,
He chases the people who
dare to snare.

He guards Delilah like a wife,
He uses his beak instead of a
knife.
He's all in white
(Except his beak)
and he has big funny webbed
feet.
He has a shine
For the teachers stocking,
He chases all the women,
He really is shocking!

This is Samson alias The Duck,
That leaves so much muck.
But his kindness you'll win,
With a karate chop to his shins.
