Hakim Said Assassinated

Hakim, social reformer, educationalist and philanthrophist, Hakim Said was murdered outside his clinic at 6:00am on Saturday, October 17.

The 78 year old head of the Hamdard Foundation and Chancellor of Hamdard University had arrived as per custom at his Clinic in Arambagh, Karachi after morning prayers at 6:00am. As soon as he alighted from his car he was fired upon
by assailants in a Mazda Hilux Pickup. Hakim Said received three bullet wounds in the head, face and neck. He was brought dead to Civil Hospital 20 minutes later. His assistant Hakim Qadir Qureshi and peon Wali Mohammed were also killed in the assault. Three others were also injured in the firing.

The assailants continued firing from their Kalashnikovs even after Hakim Said and had been fatally struck, before speeding away unhindered. The hilux pickup
was later found abandoned at Eleandor Road. The police and local authorities
are clueless as to the identity of the assailants and the motivation
of this senseles murder of a respected citizen, philanthrophist and patriot.

Hakim Said, who was fasting at the time of his death was laid to rest later that day at Madinatul Hikmat. His legacy of social work and service to the country live on as a nation mourns the murder of a well-loved citizen
