Clouds rushing by.
I walked in as
The first drops adorned your hibiscus.
I danced in the rain
The passion of the storm
As I dragged you out with me.
We walked, we sang.
We fell into something
Drenched to intoxication, we surrendered.
The rains continued.
We watched the clouds
Sitting by
We learned how to enjoy
the sea, the stars,
and the sand we made our castles in.
I've never done this before.
Never - not even when you were younger?
We ran barefoot, and lay watching the sky.
I close my eyes.
I can still taste the salt
and hear the wind rip through the palms.
I see the bright yellow walls,
The bright flowers,
The raging sky change from deep blue to black.
Right there on the rooftop,
Underneath the brilliant stars,
You stopped me, and I smiled.
The winds of the monsoon
Danced around us.
And yet, we could feel the end.
Can you stop the monsoon?
I can try.
And I smiled at your desire to stop time.
The monsoon left as it came.
Nothing left but the poignant memory
of the first drops on the hibiscus.
