Urdu Verse with Translation
Dil mein hasrat ko’ee su’lag’ti hai
Zaaf’raan dhun’d mein pi’ghal’ti hai
Kutch to taz’een-e-jaan ka baa’is hai
Phir ko’ee sham-e-yaad jalti hai
Note: This is the roman version of urdu script on the left
Ancient passions kindle
the soul,
Like saffron incinerating in the morning mist.
At last, my soul is embellished,
At last, some wafted memory lights up the heart’s environs.
Aik zanjeer-e-dar’d baj’ti hai
Dil mein dukh’oon ki saij saj’ti hai
Ik ajab kaifi’yat hai jeen’ay mein
Rooh ris ris kai bain kar’ti hai
There is a muffled clamor of pain in my blood stream,
A sordid blank affect grips the soul
Life drifts away slowly,
Lamenting.
