I wish I had a hook
Behind the door to my dreams
I could hang my days on
This one place I could find them
Again
I head out for the world
One place like one God
Simple to build vicious thoughts upon
Finding warmth and empathy
In wisdom collected over years
I wish I was circuited wrong
In my mind
Another’s pain is so much mine
Others’ History is my people’s story
Murderous familiarity
Then, when I hang all behind
I’ll enter empty handed
Except a few unanswered questions
Subtlely bothersome
Edgar to be pleased
There, at the back of the door
To my dreams
Everything would meet in mutuality
Justice with lashings; Equality with seats
Color with opportunity; Style with destiny
And take amoeba shapes
Finally become
One
