We go a long way
You and I
You, the immortal, eternal and wise one
I, the foolish, mortal, ordinary one
We go a long way
You and I
I sit alone today with You by my side
No different from the numerous times
Silence and Us were three
I spoke endlessly, You heard patiently
You were left
burdened with pain, both Yours and mine
Whereas I closed the door, didn’t look back and walked away free
Do you remember,
When I ran out in the rain one day
When my tears were no different from the ones the sky was shedding that day
When I swore to You that I would never believe in You again
For you stood there while I cried, winced and whimpered in pain
You watched and waited till I could cry no more,
To lift my spirit up enough to see the shore,
We go a long way
You and I
Do you remember,
When I had a task at hand
As impossible as trying to separate water from soiled sand
You had challenged the very own limits I had set for my mind
Only to be shown later, that those perimeters were only the froth in the ocean,
of what a human mind could attain and find
We go a long way
You and I
Do you remember,
The many times I entertained You and myself with a caustic monologue
You were my only audience and the victim of my diatribe
You never spoke once, but I heard You all the while
You affectionately clouded my soul telling me how You have always been on my side
I never saw it that way, till I looked in my heart that’s ;
When You spoke, I felt,
When You whispered, I cried,
When You guided, I persevered,
When You smiled, I smiled back.
We go a long way,
You and I
