Tears as banal as salt and water
dissolving like little ineffective sugar crystals
in scalding coffee that
burns the tongue.
Fear, fear and more fear -
This only seems to worsen with time
and I don’t become any tougher.
Just stuck in an eternal cycle.
There seems to be no end
to this
tangle of human emotions.
Forever sitting with this mess.
Waiting for the first rush.
Waiting for the first hard crunch
against the gritty wall of reality.
Waiting for that grinding to begin
of small small hopes and stupid little feelings
on a great big slab
and a rolling pin crunching them all to death.
