I'm isolated

Like a woman trapped in a cold, dimly lit cell

No toilet

No water

Locked inside

Banging on the small window on the door

Desperately waiting for somebody to save me

Is anyone out there?


I need someone brave

Brave enough to speak the truth

When it's safer to lie

Brave enough to stay

When it's easier to walk away


I need someone strong

Strong enough to help me carry

My own weight

I need someone wise

Wise enough to refrain

From speaking or acting in vain

I need someone kind

Kind enough to give

When there's nothing to gain


Ideally someone of South Asian descent

From a working-class background

Someone who can at least understand Urdu

Deeply rooted in his own history

Is somebody out there?

Someone who is isolated

Like me
