Is Human Cloning an Evil?

Every scientific invention, which directly or indirectly concerns with the human being and human society, must be eyed or governed by the statue. However, it must be taken into consideration that the scientific invention/achievements, which can benefit the human race, should not be taken as an evil and put under the strict law-clutches mere on the basis of their being contrary to the prevailing norms of culture, customs and religious aspects.

History has seen the scientific advancements abolishing the old and conservative traditions and thoughts, had always been criticized, and some times they are banned. Human conservative thoughts and trends/traditions always took them either miracle-impossible or against the honorable universal codes. Human conservative thought was not ready to accept the first man foot print at the soil of moon, but now man is planning to touch the red soil of Mars!!

Same is the story of stem cells. According to South Korean scientists, the stem cells may be used for the therapeutic purposes, though these stem cells may be used for the cloning of living beings like plants, animals, micro-organisms and human fetus. But billions of people die due to thousands of chronic diseases, which are not curable by formal methods, but can be get rid of by the stem cells.

At the same time there is discussion either human zygote cell (union product of male sexual cell sperm and female sex cell, ovum in the ovary) may be replaced by the stem cell for the development of human fetus (embryo). Means human embryo can be developed without the sexual union of man and women, even not through the test-tube baby technology, i.e. by taking the opposite sexual cells from them, and then doing their union/fusion for the fertilization, then placing at the specific soft tissue of the ovary. What about the spouse, if either of them is impotent or infertile, or both suffering the same abnormality?

Stem cells are immature cells, from which different kinds of human cells can be developed, even human zygote. Where from these cells may be attained, is important question. There are two ways to get them; embryonic cells, and from the placenta, bone marrow, umbilical cord blood, fat and from brain. But if they are taken from the embryo, then it is to be made dead, but in case of cord blood, it is very easy to get.

What is cord blood? This blood is the nothing but after the delivery it is the remained blood from the baby’s umbilical cord and placenta. So it can be attained very easily and it is thus very cheap. In other countries of the world, the cord blood is not wasted, but is stored in the cord blood stores. These stem cells are used for the diseases like heart diseases due to muscular mal-functioning, by developing these muscles and blood vessels, and they can cure the liver damaged due to the hepatitis B and C. In the same way kidney failure, brain diseases and anemia and other cancer diseases can be controlled. So it can be predicted that at the end of this century or during the next century man would be able to get such advanced bio-gentical technology to even develop the organs, which can then very easily be planted in place of damaged or disordered organs.

What about the development of the human zygote? The answer is obvious, that such development is against the human prevailing norms. But other side’s view is that the research in this direction should be continued. The US government upon the issue of human cloning has maintained the ban. Even other European countries also have legislated statutes in against the human cloning. But there is news that in some advanced countries the scientists are busy to do that.

The issue is not that the human developed zygote would then be for spouses of un-fortunes, but it says that such human zygote development may be done even for the desired quality man birth, the intelligent man, the brave man, the religious minded person, the obedient fellows, the fighter and the Normal human. It is possible in coming times, the new societies, especially those where marriage institutions is going to be deteriorated, and where even long period stay of male females is also going to be not so powerful, and where homo-sexuality is being protected under/by legislation, the human cloning would be best tool to save the human race, like struggle for panda!

There can be arguments against human cloning, like:

1- It is against the religion;
2- There would be no inter-relationship like mother-son, father-daughter and so on….;
3- It is against the human dignity;
4- It is against the culture;
5- There would be no affection, care and kindness for each other in such cloned people;
6- It would be the end of the human society;
7- There would be no binding force among the community;
8- The sovereignty would use such cloned people with desired gentic intents for their specific evil objects.

But at the same time other side gives arguments like:

1- Cloning is not only the name of human zygote development;
2- The cloned human being will be used to save the human race, in case of some disaster, natural or un-natural;
3- The cloned individual may be at the first initial stage of development developed free from all future disorders of mind, body and psychology;
4- It is the evolutionary stage that determines a new advancement (also scientific) to be acceptable or not, not a specific prevailing age-people;
5- The cloned people may be religious and other society norms;
6- The cloned individuals would bind themselves united with the common causes of/for social, economical and religious interests/norms;
7- The human beings form the sovereignty, and at that time the cloned people would also be among the people born through the normal fertilization in result of sexual intercourse.
8- Cloned people would be able to do the sexual union for the human race extension.

The fact is that the chronic diseases are forcing scientists to go ahead in research towards the human stem cells utilization for the subject purposes. Today legislation can be done against the human cloning. But fact is also that the west under the international laws (for human rights, also) dragged such issues as legal, which in past few decades even in west were used to be said/declared un-human, without ethics and against the religion. Examples can be cited of homo-sexuality and prostitution. Recently, in this July (2004), Britain, under human rights law, legislated few statutes for the facilitate them. But by citing them it doesn’t meant that the evils could be allowed. The issue is that can the human cloning be analogically treated equivalent to the canal sexuality/lesbian trends? The answer is very clear, human cloning is not evil, but some thing else, which is not being welcome by the present-time age powers. But it would be time which would make it easily acceptable by the human beings.
