Nuclear Strike Warning or Green Card Application?

A Pakistani scientist said
today that he has run away to the United States and agreed to
share his country’s nuclear program because he is
concerned Pakistan might be considering a first strike against
India.


Iftikhar Chaudhry Khan, is ready to describe Pakistan'’s
nuclear program to U.S. officials, including any assistance it has received from China.

Mr. Khan said he fears for his own life and for the
destruction that could result from nuclear war.

“"The Islamic world will oppose me. They believe
Pakistan has made a great
development,. “I want the
U.S. government to use its sources to
stop these type of activities.”"

The Pakistan government said today that
any first-strike strategy would not be discussed with scientists of Mr. Khan level/experience. They describe him as a low-level civil engineer who did not have access to such information. “However, Mr. Khan is reported to have the documentation to corroborate his claim.”

Meanwhile, attorneys for Mr. Khan have applied for US political asylum and have initiated efforts to locate his wife in Pakistan, who is reported to being held their against her will.

Immediate reaction from US-settled Pakistanis revealed the opinion that the defecting scientist is staging a charade for personal gains. "Its a ruse to secure a green card for himself".
