Slowly, slowly
Piece by piece
Arc by awkward rhombus
I relearn the geometry of love.
Trapezoids and bell curves
The dance of angles and lines
Somewhere calculus comes to play.
I knew calculus once…
I could differentiate in my sleep once,
and integrate
Know the cosine of intersections
The theorems stacked easily.
Out here the curves shift
and sometimes grow murky.
Reawakening is painstaking
Baby steps, baby steps
Sometimes I stumble,
trip on the patterns of the floor,
chew on sawdust
to quench the hunger.
