Movie Review
Actors: Sultan Rahi, Mustafa Qureishi
Director: , Producer:
This legendary, bloodthirsty, crazy, mad, genius of a movie is the deranged story of a bunch of absolutely bonkers characters --all from the Punjab with its macho culture! This film delights in taking this macho culture to absurd extremes
as is the most successful Punjabi film ever with larger than life villains and THE Punjabi Uberhero.
It is essentially about the dushmani between villainous Noori Nutt --played to perfection by Mustafa Qureishi (a fine actor who, one feels, if he was in say Hollywood would have rivalled Robert DeNiro as the finest actor in his generation but who is wasted in Pakistani cinema!) and the heroic Maula Jatt--played by the late Sultan Rahi marhoom with his gandasa with which he chops his enemies to pieces to defend his izzat. This film is about the concept of izzat taken to absurd levels. It is trash but magnificently enjoyable trash. A real must-see of a movie! Thrilling --and the dialogue is unmatched and totally brilliant and totally over the top with plenty of `baraks` (Punjabi male war cries!) Unlike anything else you`ve ever seen.
