The Jews, Israel, and the Middle East

Godot August 12, 2006

Israel has been condemned for aggression against its neighbors throughout the Islamic world. But is Israel entirely responsible for Palestinians’ ghetto-like existence? If Israel failed to provide economic security and win over the hearts of the Palestinians, the bigger failure lies with the
Arab rulers who have used the Palestinians as pawns to keep the bogey of Israel breathing in order to divert the attention from their despotic and nauseating grip on power, keep their populace ignorant and locked in the 7th century, and keep the loot of petro-dollars to themselves. However, that’s not the point of this essay.

That the Jews have the firm control of this planet’s sole superpower’s foreign policy when it impacts Israel in any way, shape, or form, and that they shape American public opinion with respect to Israel is beyond anyone’s doubt. Many prominent personalities have written books and articles denouncing the AIPAC’s iron grip that overwrites Israel’s interest over America’s.

The Jews should be commended, not condemned, for their remarkable achievement. Being among the fewest in numbers as religio-ethnic group, they command unimaginable power. The hostility to Israel, and by implication to the Jews, comes from the resentment and envy by those, mainly Arabs and other misguided Muslims, who themselves have failed on a grand scale. The Arabs and the Muslims have nothing to show at the dawn of the twenty-first century. Relegated to the bottom of the totem pole, where their masses dwell in the darkness of ignorance, they resent and envy the Jews for their sheer power. Constituting over 20 percent of the world population and holding immense wealth, they are helpless and impotent to the group a fraction of theirs.

The Muslims are only hurting themselves by resenting the Jews; they should learn from them and their achievements. The Jews are among the nicest and the fairest people when dealing with non-Jews.

If Hamas, the fairly elected party of the Palestinians, recognizes Israel’s right to exist in peace with all its neighbors, throws away the arms, and asks for negotiations for the betterment of Palestinians’ plight, Israel, and the Jews, can perform miracles. The onus to move towards peace in the Middle East lies with the Arabs and other Muslim regimes.

The Jews are powerful and they rule the world. By sheer necessity, they have developed a heightened sense of survival which is uncommon among other groups of humans and difficult for non-Jews to understand. The only way to deal with them is to recognize Israel’s right to exist and throw away the deadly weapons pointing towards it. Unfortunately, it is unlikely the despotic and ignorant Muslim regimes will accept what’s being asked of them, so there will never be peace in the Middle East, the mother of all trouble spots in the world, making the clash of civilizations very likely. However, given the reality of where the Muslims stand vis-à-vis Israel and the Jews in particular, and other civilizations in general, the outcome of that clash does not favor the Muslims.

The twenty-first century has nothing resembling the seventh. Henceforth, the only war the Muslims can win against the others is peace.
