“Every piece of writing must have a plot that consists of three parts” I recall one of the lectures from my dramatics class, “You introduce your characters in the beginning, build on the suspense and story in the middle and the drama reaches its peak by the end where it unfolds in the last part. A good writer keeps the audience wowed till the end and the bad ones lose the end.”

Our Mullah’s have unfortunately never been to a school. However, we have to give them credit for a good beginning where they introduced themselves as modern day terrorists, isn’t terrorism the IN thing? Their protagonists created perfect suspense, women clad in burqas holding Kalashnikovs fighting for truth; I call them Ninjas of Islam (who doesn’t fantasize them). They paid the right amount of time working on creating the antagonists. The plot used a formula story that works hundred percent in cheap Bollywood movies and soaps; Good vs. Evil. So now after all the hard work where did they go wrong? They lost the end. Being the bad playwrights they didn’t know how to end the story once it reached its climax so the writer wore a Burqa himself and ran for his life.

My grandmother often says, “Allah baywaqoof dushman say bachay,” which means that one should never have an un-intelligent enemy. The legitimacy of our Hijabs/Veils/Scarves has been questioned in International courts. Maulana Abdul Aziz proved to the world that a Burqa can serve as a perfect camouflage for a terrorist so please kindly ban them all. No one should be allowed to cover their heads as they might be hiding hi-tech detectors underneath or wear a Burqa as there is high probability that the person underneath is equipped with weapons of mass destruction. Analyze the situations from a layman prospective, all he knows about Muslims is that they have beards, keep multiple women who have never seen light and are terrorists with nuclear weapons who are not only responsible for 9/11 but also the bombings in London and other such incidents. The recent acts of our so called Islamic Leaders will embed these images in his mind forever.

Our religious leaders thrive on calling women Fitna, have oppressed them for centuries but the irony of the situation is that they have to use a woman’s’ identity for survival. I agree with the Vibes Editor Aisha Sarwari who says that what is interesting is that these mullah’s who consider women scum of the earth, enough to use them as human shields by deploying them in Lal Masjid to avert police shelling, and enough to divide them into whores and mothers, enough to keep them in polygamous harems, enough to offer prostitutes a hand in marriage as the only alternative to a respectable life, and enough to cast them in dark walls of the veil had to eventually wear the same veil to escape Islamabad police. This is the same Mullah, who half an hour ago was calling for religious freaks to come to jihad against the establishment. Only organized religion shrouds the masters of doublespeak. The question is when will the world see religious bigots for what they are, when will the world stop celebrating them and start condemning their identities?

As long as I can remember our political leaders, the parasites, have been using the economy, emotions and resources of Pakistan for their own powers. They shamelessly use religion as a shield to protect their own questionable acts. The image of Pakistan and Islam has been disfigured like a woman who has been burnt with acid because she stood for freedom, ideology and self. Our nation is being governed by leaders who yell when Salman Rushdie receives a Knighthood but will never unite to hire resources to write a book that promotes the real essence of Islam and provides evidence against surrealism.

My nine year old brother believes that all the Bollywood action where a terrorist is always a Muslim is for real when he sees kids his age walking out of the Lal Masjid carrying guns and shooting at the policemen. I worry about my future, his future, about the future of the entire Muslim community while the drama at the Lal Masjid in the capital state of the Islam Republic of Pakistan continue …
