Pakistani Artist Gulgee Murdered

Pakistan's renowned artist Ismail Gulgee was found murdered along with his wife Zarine and maid at their residence in Karachi (Clifton area) on Wednesday.

Police say they were found gagged in different rooms and were murdered by suffocation about two to three days ago. The bodies were discovered by son Amin Gulgee.

Born in Peshawar on October 25, 1926, Ismail Gulgee was a world famous artist. He was a qualified engineer and a self-taught abstract and portrait painter. His first art exhibition was held in 1950 and was recipient of several national and international awards. Since 1960s he had turned to abstract painting and calligraphy.

President Musharraf has demanded for an immediate probe regarding the murder of well-known Artist Gull Gee directing Sindh Governor Ishrat ul Abad and Chief Minister Abdul Qadir Halipota to find the culprits behind the heinous murder.

Gulgee was 81. His son Amin Gulgee is a well-known sculptor.
