Peace and Tranquility are the basic infrastructure requirements of our homeland- Who can deliver?
The war that I face each day is to safely take my daughter to school and anticipate that she will be back home safe and sound. I read to her books about magic, kingdoms, piety, honesty and integrity. She's fascinated by dolphins, glitter, mangoes and new Barbie dolls. I guess one cannot really expect
much from two-year-old princesses. Some of the greatest psychologists say and believe that the early years of a child is when he or she is truly formulating into a particular individual. I pray that I turn her into a god fearing and lovable human being that can serve Pakistan and the world.
But if all the fathers thought like me, then why do we have so many ghost faces and immoral characters steering the nation? Are they fatherless? Or their morality got confiscated during their adolescence? Didn't their fathers and mothers read them book about rabbits and integrity? Didn’t they dream of magic and horses? It seems like these current leaders of our nation never have read the books that we are so solemnly committed to establishing. Books need to be added into their libraries. Never too late to read a book about ethics. But only if they could read?
I don't know about sectarian violence and neither do I care about political harassment. The questions that I ask myself are not whether the Punjab assembly needs a new building or if the motorway needs to have another layer of charcoal done each year. It is astonishing that the Multan Road bypass to Tokhar Niaz Baig has been made four times in the last 365 days. The road now is 7 inches from ground-level and on some areas completely above the first Floor of homes nearby. Who allows for such unrealistic construction? And within the vicinity lives the Chief Minister.
I am a teacher and run a small business. I am extremely fair with my work. But what about those governmental officials that are sitting in offices like the Pakistan Railways, Lahore Development Authority, District Council offices? Don't they have a job to do? Are they not responsible for maintaining tranquility and manicured lawns? Have they ever sat in a railway carriage with their children? Why make ministers of divisions that are never used?
My war is against the injustices against the spirit of Pakistan. I never played any part in creating this massive array of bombardment and suicide attacks. I have never voted for any parliamentarian in any government for I never had faith in any one of them. But I will tell you what I have done. I have planted trees during the Imran Khan plantation and I have worked in the orphan villages and given them cheap toys. I have taught free of cost to different institutions and have paid the surgical bills of many poverty stricken patients. I don't want any award from the government or any compensation. My philanthropist activities have its own awards. This is all I ask after paying my taxes. A safe haven for my home. Smiles on my children faces. Halal, hard earned food, and electricity. Is that really too much to ask? Is that too hard to deliver?
