Indian Airlines Plane Hijacked

On the eve of Christmas, Flight 189 an Airbus A300 on a scheduled flight from Kathmandu, Nepal to New Delhi, India has been hijacked. The
rel="tag" href="/tag/identity">identity of the hijackers, five in number, has not been released, CNN has described them as Hindi speaking. It has been reported that 4 passengers have already been killed. These reports have not been confirmed.

The hijackers ordered the pilot to fly to Afghanistan but were refused permission to land at both Kabul and Kandhar airports. The plane had earlier refueled in Lahore, Pakistan. Currently the plane is in an airbase in the United Arab Emirates. There are 178 passengers and 11 crew members. The hijackers have so far negotiated through the pilot.
