Nothing’s Forever

In human life - there’s no ‘forever’!

In human life

there’s no ‘forever’!

As with birth

there’s death,

so with every event,

no matter how intense,

no permanency resides!

The eventual rift

is writ, ere the beginning!

Good or bad,

times or tides

pass away- giving way

to
relief or agony!

Nothing lasts: wispy threads

blown away-

none too strong- to endure

the ploys of destiny!

In human life

there’s no ‘forever’ !

Why then do we live

to create ties

and believe they will last?

Why do we lose ourselves

and be swept away

in dreams of their enduring?

To leave a trail

of lost illusions; and

bitter thoughts of sweet times?

How does one let go

the tie that binds

heart and soul?

How does one learn

to live again,

in the vacuum

that knows not

how to fill itself?

Does one live with memories!

And what do they serve

but to bring the past

into the present

and make that too empty;

so- one lets go,

one has to!

Of all emotions that beset

the human mind

love is the most treacherous;

so many forms it has-

and as many betrayals:

and yet it is the most exhalted!

Nothing in human life

is forever;

and it is love that breeds

endurance everlasting-

to let go at a snap

and be washed away

By a mere word, an act or deed,

to be the most lost!

Greater love breeds greater

disbelief in permanency-

Sweeter the love-

more bitter its loss!

Deep and true love

oft not comes one way;

And when it does

it entangles completely

and traps the soul

in its fold;

and the mind too forgets,

nothing lasts, nothing lasts!

More sincere the love

deeper the amnesia

fiercer the ache that follows.

And yet, and , yet,

The sweetest hours

the sublimest moments

are lived in

the shortest time

to be recalled

for the longest period.

Nothing’s forever-

but memories live on-

to fade- but never die!

Life is a journey

into the future -

A travel to the goal,

set at birth.

This journey winds

its way and joins

and breaks many tracks.

But it’s an onward route

and one has to tread on-

taking into stride

the pleasure and the pain

the beauty and the ugliness.

Many experiences,

many a smile and heartbreak;

and all that, all that,

is what this route of life

is about- so walk it

walk it- let your step

be strengthened by what

you leave behind

for the milestones yet to come.

And journey with those

who remain by your side,

for those are the true

soulmate, your guides

and your supports;

and leave the way stations

behind, no matter

how pleasant they may have been.

For life is looking ahead

and not back;

What is gone, is gone.

It was great- but is gone!

The way lies forward-

In the road of life

there is no reversal,

Fate , destiny, takes you onwards;

For the final goal

lies in the milestones

yet to come, not on

those left behind.

So remember, there’s

nought to gain, in

remaining still, to brood

about what’s gone;

There's only to think

of what lies

at the next turn,

next marker- and on!

For in human life

there's no forever,

nothing lasts- there’s

only ends- and new beginnings!!

And the memories-

always the memories!
