I hate epiphanies
They come without regard for time and place
Of mood and circumstance, or when
For lost dreams and broken promises
An insight into pretend friends and old flames
Things you don’t want to hear
Like rain and sunshine
Like laughter and
tears
Like the shock of a held breath
Just when they slip right through your fingers
A life and a death
Sister lies, Sister lies
I hate old friends
They can hurt you the most
Pulling at your deepest insecurities
They know where to stab, or twist
Then pull you into strong arms
And whisper away your pain
Like snowfall and sunlight
Like promises in vain
Like the brush of intimacy
Only last a moment more than you want
A dawn after a night
Sister Lies, Sister lies
I hate the gap between fingers
So much slips right through
From dreams, to old friends, or epiphanies
It is never enough to hold any back
When others tell you everything happens for a reason
I wonder if I have any control at all
Like robbing the rich to feed the poor
Like wishing on a falling star
Like a road that goes in circles
It’s just a path that leads right back to you
A crossroads with only one path
Sister lies, Sister lies
There are moments and memories in everything we right. Just sometimes...they tend to rhyme...
They come without regard for time and place
Of mood and circumstance, or when
For lost dreams and broken promises
An insight into pretend friends and old flames
Things you don’t want to hear
Like rain and sunshine
Like laughter and
Like the shock of a held breath
Just when they slip right through your fingers
A life and a death
Sister lies, Sister lies

Pulling at your deepest insecurities
They know where to stab, or twist
Then pull you into strong arms
And whisper away your pain
Like snowfall and sunlight
Like promises in vain
Like the brush of intimacy
Only last a moment more than you want
