Two Poems

Wandering Star

Pangs of guilt were devouring me
Like a termite in timber
Stuck in timelessness,
The future I could not see
The will to survive was growing dimmer

For my fault was kindness
Modesty: The biggest crime
My honesty turned against me
My cry for nature: An amusing mime

Know
yourself oh wandering star
You are lost, she told me
Don’t care and love but yourself
Know what sets you free

I found myself drifting into darkness
To a world strangely unknown
I feel music; Heaven and Hell in unison
Beautiful like a flower, cold like stone

I embraced modesty, I embraced kindness
I left everything behind
All that’s left is me and only me
Memories no longer haunt my mind

I see triumph lie at my feet
As humanity questions my existence
I have learnt to make ends meet
I savor my bitter independence

A new beginning is near
That will lead me to my destiny,
Destiny;
Should I hope for or fear?
Closer to the end of my tyranny?

Life is...

About choices.
There are good ones
and bad ones,
and ones
that make us happy.
Take your pick.

About fear,
Of the Lord or His people?
Of the self or the other?
It is in fear where
destiny awaits us.
Just do it.

About loving,
the best and the worst,
for love knows nothing but
the averages.
Be an average.

About dying.
Our times are decided?
It is either
the Garden of Eden, or
the fieriness of Hell.
In remembrance,
lies the will to do good.
Remember,
to be good.

About knowledge.
Learn it,
use it,
treasure it,
for knowledge is,
Power.
