Seven bombs blasted in Mumbai’s commuter rail network during rush hours on Tuesday evening (July 11, 2006). 105 people are reported killed (as of 12-00 noon, 7/11/06) and more than 300 injured. The bombings were well-coordinated.
The Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh put India’s major cities on high alert and called an emergency meeting. Nobody has yet claimed responsibility for this dastardly act.
There was reportedly some prior information regarding the blasts but "place and time was not known," according to the Indian Home Minister Shivraj Patel.
Chowk Staff condemns these deadly blasts and sympathises with the victims’ families. Unfortunately terrorist bombings have become a part of life these days and no country seems to be safe against them.
