Lock on a coffin

A reaction on Baluchistan situation

The proceeding of Nawab Akbar Bugti’s burial was watched by millions of viewers on the private channels. It was the most extraordinary sight however in a pathetic sense of the word. A senior politician of a national stature was being lowered onto the grave in the presence of less than a dozen people and they too were probably the security persons in plain clothes. The interesting part was also to observe couple of gunman who were targeting their guns on the coffin. It is ununderstandable why guns had to be aimed at the coffin. Equally unbelievable was the fact that there was a huge lock put on the clasp of the coffin. I wonder why was it so important to have a high alert security for a harmless body of a dead person?

Psychology might be a beyond the understanding of a common man and Sigmund Fraude might be a scholar of the bygone era. However his “theory of fear” still holds good especially in the case Pervaiz Musharaff vs. Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti. The lock on the coffin, in fact was the question mark, which was put on innumerable questions. I wonder why the General had been threatening the Baloch political leaders with dire consequences? What was it that late Nawab did to merit the wrath of an army chief? If the Nawab was involved in anti state crime, why an FIR was not initiated against him? Why was Nawab Bugti on the run, when some of the associates of the army rulers were constantly harping on dialogue? Nawab Akbar Bugti was a man of the mountains, why did he choose the cave, which could not sustain the breathing of a few persons hiding under it? Why was the not allowed to witness the proceedings of excavation in the initial stage? Why the hiding politician kept all the incriminating evidence, like Satellite phones, ninety six thousand dollars and heaps of arms and ammunition in the month of the cave, which the security forces could recover without much effort? Why did the rulers choose to preside over the burial of the late Nawab?

The lock is a sign of fear. The gun barrel is a sign of fear. Shouting that you are not afraid is also a sign of fear. And as I look at it FEAR is not a healthy sign!
