That emptiness, that nothingness, what lies beneath?

Apr 3, 2009

I contemplate humanity,
as all of us rush to work in our cubicle farms,
as we crawl in metal boxes on the freeways,

as we follow rules created by man, or created by the gods created by man

as we line up to consume foods that were mass produced for mass consumption

as we sleep, eat, defecate, work, commute, sleep
as we forget the meaning of humanity
as we see laws taking precedence over humans

as we work ourselves to exhaustion to buy stuff to entertain us so we can forget the meaningless of our existence

as we watch chimpanzees through glass panes in lab enclosures as they mimic what they see on TV

as we sit in large glass window living rooms in gated communities and mimic what we see on TV

as we forget the meanings of friends and family and become armies of one

as we remain glued to TV screens, iphone screens, laptop screens

as we facebook, myspace, twitter

as we hate, fear, separate

as we despair

as some of us slumber, and tune out, and carry on like animated dead bodies

as some of us awaken and scratch the surface, and realize that this is all but an illusion

as some of us see the millions of solar systems in billions of galaxies and realize we're not the center of the universe, of existence

as some of us realize that the end of times is not the end of times

as some of us despair that beneath the illusion is nothing but nothingness

I see that beneath the dark layer of nothingness is EVERYTHINGNESS.

beneath the nothing is love.

and everything.
