Apr 19, 2003

As Qurans burn
And edifices tumble
Hailing the return of the American Genghis
The Tigris flows without the ink
This time the books were burned
The air smells of history
Words by wise men rising up

As Qurans burn
People dance on the street
With bombed limbs and scarce feet
They smile to the script
To show how a great deed was done
By bombing an open wound
By looting the wealth so soon

As Qurans burn
Men in uniforms sing
The rhetoric of colonialism
They threaten Syria now
They look towards Iran too
The great deed has to be done
Israel’s place reconfirmed

As Qurans burn
And is flamed
In a region without
The smoke keeps rising in the Middle East
The weapons and bullets have a name
“From America with
May it be in Baghdad or Jenin

As Qurans burn
So does the heart of men
Who believe in the
Believe that the time is coming
For the reversal of their lives
If you don’t take our advice
We have warned you

In Baghdad the greatest collection of Qurans, Legal document and ancient Islamice text were burned down.
