Still in Love

Still in Love
If you just hold me the way I want you to
A Hug
Peppered with the concern of a mother
Sheltered like a virgin’s modesty
Innocent as a sleeping child’s sudden smile
I would spare you the cruelty
Of being in love with you
Not True
There is a broken heart
Beneath that iron curtain of composure.
There are gentle dreams
And longings
Locked under reticence and shyness.
Yearnings difficult to express.
Scared of vulnerability and
Emptiness
The declaration to be a loner
Is just not true.
