Love Among The Ruins

Aug 16, 2005

Painfully silent
I pick my way through the ruins
Of this bleeding house
Where did it all end? I do not know
I must be asleep
Or too busy stifling my screams
In our daily rituals

Too busy
Picking up the broken toys
Of yet to be born
The stale remnants of virgin dreams
Of flickering
Writing feverishly on still water

And sadly
I did not see
no, I did not see
: cocooned amidst the ruins
Painfully silent…
It took its last breath
And tore apart the last vestige
Of a tragic soul
