We, the people!

Feb 3, 2006

I often wonder that what we have done as a nation. Are we successful in maintaining a position on the international front? What element is our culture made up of? What did we actually gain in these 57 years of our existence as a nation? Were we successful in casting an emphatic impression on other nations? Did we come up to the expectations of our leader, the Quaid?

In my very explicit view, we do not fit in any of the categories and answer any of the questions I have mentioned above.

Instead we lost whatever we had. Adding to the misery, we lost it very blatantly. Rather than being a strong and powerful nation we are nothing but a lost, ambiguous, a random group of people.

Our independence never deleted the strong and staunch impact we got from the British. Even in their rule, we Muslims were nothing but a mob-like sect. after we got self rule, all these inspirations and influences mutated to a severe inferiority complex. These complexes further deepened and became so grave that now we are almost nothing but a small, corrupt, fraudulent sect which calls themselves Pakistanis.

We are influenced from western culture in many aspects of our life. For instance what does our and dress designers illustrate? Which culture are they trying to depict? Which Pakistani do they represent? A woman who sits in her house all day and is only concerned about her beautification? Or, the woman who doesn’t even has money to buy necessities of her life? The whole world is aware of the pathetic living conditions in ; our shows delineate nothing but further corrupt the image of on the international forum which, by the way, is suppose to be an Islamic state. Are they trying to portray the desperateness of the people of our country? Or is it the promotion of western culture they are happy with? Which fantasy world do they live in? Who is responsible for these idiosyncrasies? Who is accountable for such an absurd behavior? I leave that to your own judgment.

Our society is motivated by western culture, let alone the imbecilic glamour world. Our more wants to be Ashtun Kutcher and Hillary duff; they prefer the head banging over any other. What do we actually prove by this gormless attitude? That we are worshippers of other cultures? That we glamorize the Hollywood world? Well, is this the impression we are sculpting on the international front? We prove that from years and years we have been prompted from different cultures and nations.

Have we fulfilled the requirements of our ? I don’t think so. As a nation we have already lost our nationality, is this going to be the case with our too? We proudly call ourselves Muslims, have we complied with the commandments of Allah? Have we got our in or is our an heir of already decadent ? Till when we would struggle and strive to acquire our due regards and back? Till when we would this battle of different demons of ego would linger?

After Muslims, we are Pakistanis. But are we prosperous in any field? Are we victorious in any of the constructive field rather than going haywire with ? As a country there are numerous differences between our provinces. We are not at all united and in fact, we don’t have any integrity, camaraderie, or patriotism for our country or our people. No cohesion at all and then there is complete silence…

Of all the four provinces only Punjab is the one which intercedes between the provinces. The whole country expects Punjab to be friendly, to act as a peacemaker and to initiate the brotherly relations. Why not sindh, balochistan or NWFP initiate the progress? In unequivocal words our nation has no convergence on any point of view. What this actually tells about our culture? That we are nothing but fragmented people? Do we tell that we have a culture in which we bomb our mosques kill the people and dishonor the of our country? Possibly yes.

Why are Japanese people called Japanese? Why is Chinese called Chinese? That is because these people have still some sort of left in them. They are very hardworking people and probably they have some distinctive factors which are the basis of their healthy divergence from other nations. And that is why is they are Different! They have an and a sense of loyalty to their country …but we don’t!

Those people have worked hard to retrieve their lost . Japan suffered the worst in 1945, but they recovered from that disaster-and at what pace? You know it better. Though the traces of that treachery are still there, but they have left the previous sorrows behind and possibly they deem a prosperous future for themselves. That is only because of their hardworking and loyal nation and their unshakably commitment with their people and country.

From years and years our political system faces severe challenges and continuous threats and breakdowns. What is the main cause? Is it our foreign or our constitutional ? Is our foreign strong enough to face social challenges? If yes than where is the uniformity of healthy opinion? Are we able to face the at the international front? Are we Pakistanis united?
The following quote by Malcolm X clearly highlights OUR need today.
" is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today."

"Usually when people are sad, they don’t do anything. They just cry over their condition. But when they get angry, they bring about a change." –Malcolm X

Don’t you think it’s OUR time now?
