The Comfort Zone

The River of Life flows by,

Borne by currents of adventure,

Of leisure,

Of pleasure,

Of experiences to treasure

The Cup of Life lies full,

Tipped to the brim with joyousness,

With happiness

With cheeriness

With moments of blissfulness

The Desert of Pain is flung far

Washed by winds so sorrowful

So woeful

So dismal

So dolorous and awful

I dip my hand in the River

But swim not for fear

I sip from the Cup

But not drink it clear

Yet the Desert I tread

Its warm sands my bed

It wastes where I set

My aching, weary head

To its vast expanse

I am inexorably wed.
