Tariq Ali has written a brilliant book on this BCCI.How it was run by procuresses and how it did all the dubious work. Its nexus with the dubious Zia military junta, the hopeless Arab regimes who have been thrashed by a mickey mouse Israel, with the CIA and Brit Int.

Pavo
What makes you believe that reading a book written by an idiot who has no idea of banking can make you an expert on banking? I suggest u stick to your basics, trying to make sense with geo-politics.

pavocavalry,
Haha Pavo, I worked with BCCI for 10 years. Last posting was Chief Manager, Hong Kong Main Branch. I know what BCCI was all about, and it certainly was not crookery or thuggery. It was all about forming a parallel monetary system for the Southern Hemisphere opposed to the US Dollar denominated economic regime.
BCCI, the high-street commercial bank, was just the beginning. To follow was something called 'South Bank' to be based in Eastern Europe of the time. That would have tuned the global economic system upside down which is why it was shut down.

Pavo,
Don't know what this book says, but BCCI has paid 100% of my deposit back in Hong Kong, and is still paying the Provident Fund balance lodged in Luxembourg, which was claimed to have been stolen by it.
I just received request for confirmation of address for a cheque of $4,000. I think that'll complete 100% of the fund plus interest since 1991.
Crook?
