OFID Scholarship 2009 awarded to Sameen Shahid

Here is another bright star of Pakistan to be proud of. Pakistan’s Ms. Sameen Shahid is winner of (The OPEC Fund for International Development)OFID’s 2009 Scholarship. She obtained admission for a Master in Public Administration Degree in International Development at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She begins her studies in the Fall of 2009. Ms. Shahid’s professional career includes work in Evaluation Research and Development with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and International Development from McGill University, Montreal, Canada.
This year’s award is third in the series of OFID’s annual scholarship program. The award goes to a student who emerges after a rigorous selection process. This year, over 3,000 applications were received from students in developing countries around the world.
The OFID scholarship supports a student from any developing country to pursue higher education, usually a Master’s Degree, in a relevant field of development study offered by a recognized institution. The grant goes to highly motivated and qualified students to overcome the financial challenge of advanced professional or graduate training. The OFID scholarship covers costs up to US$100,000, spread over a maximum of two years.
