Enjoy! And maybe visit.

Equipment used: Trusty ol (naht!) Finepix S602, usually with highly unconventional lens filter (a.k.a car window)

friend,
I was referring to the picture-entry system here-- chowk’s own web app. :-). You have a point: I could have been more descriptive in the titles. But I really didn’t mean this to be a pictoral travelogue. I guess I was exhibiting the photography more than the place. So shoot me!

PM #5,
Even a description "sawat valley - on way to Mongora" -would help in relating to the photographs.
Your desire for conforming to the "system" will not conflict with a name like "rapids on river xyz" rather than just "rapids".

Similarly, "snowcap" can be improved by "sunrise/sunset over xyz range".

On a different note, both of our counteries inherited this "system" from one source. I do not really believe that your system can be much different from ours. Only restriction in taking and posting photographs in India is on passes and bridges in inner line area. Many photographs of even that area appear regularly in "Himalayan Journal" and "Indian Mountaineer". And as you may already know, both sides inherited detailed survey maps of India done before partition. I have seen some of them in my engineering university that show contours at 100m inteval.

Nice Photography PM .... :)

friend,
Sorry, but the ’system’ doesn’t allow for individual description of the pictures. Would it be helpful if I said that all the pics were shot within a 50-mile radius of what would be cosnidered ’downtown’ Sawat, i.e., the town of Mingora?
If there are any particular ones you’d like to know more about, please specify...

Patrick Masih,
How irritating! Please give some description or location of these photographs. How do we relate to these?

Thanks Goreja. Praise coming from you really appreciated!
ditto Sameer. Glad these had that effect on you.
Stuka. These pics were shot in Swat (more correctly, Sawaat). It’
s a region about 5-6 hours from Murree. Hopefully the time is not far when, if you so chose, you’d be able to visit hassle-free. :)

Sorry for the delayed response. FOr some weird reason, the replies didn’t show until I hit page 10.

Thanks, Patrick, for rekindling the nostalgia through breath taking pictures of mighty and majestic northern areas of Pakistan.
