what i hate about karachi:
(my top ten generalisations)

10. there’s nothing to do in the evenings except eat eat and then eat some more.
9. the people are cliquish, snobbish.
8. the buildings are ugly. the city’s too grey.
7. noone ever smiles. you drive down the road and everyone you see is grim faced.
6. no culture.
5. a lot of pseudo-culture
4. women are better-looking elsewhere ... although karachi’s women APPARENTLY have more ’style’ and don’t sound so bad when they open their mouths. i dunno about that.
3. too stratified. geographically. unlike lahore where you have to get around town to see friends, here everyone lives within a 10 km radius. noone ever needs to go ’pull kay uss paar’. ppl from karachi have seen more of new york than their own city ... (and then they have the gall to rave about it!! )
2. mohajir men cower before their women. mohajir women are loud, aggressive and oh so sarcastic. mohajir men are the proverbial ’bheegi billi’, scampering, tail between the legs. some major gender issues to be resolved ...
1. the beach is a ganda nala ... but we still go every weekend because theres nothing to do in this crappy ass city!

no, i dont really hate karachi all that much. its better than most of this country ... but once in a while, just once in a while, my mind thunders and roars and i get the urge to bulldoze through this sprawling urban mess.
khair.
