In India, Is it normal to have extra-marital sex?

I am asking this question because all information about India I get is through Indian Movies and most of theie new movies are promoting it ?

The Indian movies show such Naach-gana and storylines to attract the masses. Indian movies and even TV serials have this other woman and the other man entries which are supposed to bring in a different angle that is all. These are unnecessary fillers. In fact, extrapolating by a far stretch, every year there would be not more than a handful of Bollywood movies that would be stellar.

I have not heard of extra-marital sex around me!!! So, i would say it would be a rarity for people to have extra-marital affairs in India. I am seeing single women on the rise in India though. I am hearing of live-ins too.

I suggest you watch ’Mr and Mrs. Iyer’; ’Dil Chahta Hei’; ’Saathiya’; ’Kal Ho Na Ho’; ’Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge’ - These movies will bring you closer to information on our country than the Mallikas ever could. Perhaps ’Swadesh’ will be good too, the TOI review says so. I am not sure though - I have not watched it.

Hint on movies: Watch any movie which has Amir Khan or Rahul Bose in it. If not stellar, these will be near-stellar. Well, you may even add Shah Rukh and Ajay Devgan to the list:-) Try watching Mani Ratnam directed movies, hmm ’Anjali’ is my favourite movie from those directed by Mani Ratnam. Guess we do have a Hindi version.

If you watch telly in India, try watching the movies that come on Sahara One, 8.30PM on Saturday. These are tele-movies and some of them have been gems.

BTW, I am not a movie-buff, the last movie i have watched is Kal Ho Na Ho and that was aeons ago!
