Some more revelations about ahimsa, the absence of a desire to injure. Apparently "beheading" and "blood sacrifices" existed in Hinduism long before Jihadis showed up.

As Durga, the Unapproachable, she kills the buffalo demon Mahisha in a great battle; as Kali, the Black, she dances in a mad frenzy on the corpses of those she has slain and eaten, adorned with the still-dripping skulls and severed hands of her victims. The Goddess is also worshiped by the Shaktas, devotees of Shakti, the female power. This sect arose in the medieval period along with the Tantrists, whose esoteric ceremonies involved a black mass in which such forbidden substances as meat, fish, and wine were eaten and forbidden sexual acts were performed ritually.

Finally, a simple, short, easy-to-understand book: "Hindoos - and What They Believe!"

There are many many Hindoos in the world. They have many many gods. Some gods are xerox copies of the originals, appearing over and over again. Some exist only as the master copies. The gods marry other gods, some marry humans, and some interact with animals. There are four main castes, mostly based on color and occupation. The not so dark-skinned priests are called Brahmins, they are at the top. People bring them fruits and sweets to eat. They used to bring them virgins, but not any more. That was in the very very old days when there were many many virgins in India. Now there is a real shortage in the country. There are three castes lower than Brahmins with each caste darker in skin than the one above it. At the very bottom are the Untouchables. These are Hindoos who used to do Paki-bashing in their previous lives. They will keep coming back as Untouchables until they apologize for their vulgar behavior.
