Exit Caine, Enter Dickens

Posted: Jan 12, 2005 Wed 11:12 pm     Views: 40

’The Prodigal Son’ was a good book, to me the learning was that bad deeds always reap badly, if not for yourself for your kith and kin and your next generation. It shows how two families very strongly based on love turn to dismal poverty both monetarily and mentally - only because of a lie committed by one of their sons. What i liked about the book was it was so very unpredictable too - this aspect got me moving at quite a fast pace too. And yes i would love to read other Caine books.

I am now reading ’A Tale of Two Cities’. Currently my pace has become dismal. Have been reading this since last week of December i should say. Out of 45 chapters, have completed only 9 so far, so that is dismal statistics i am giving. The reason is very very simple - Rahul is back, so i am reading him these days!!

I am slowly growing into a Dickens fan. I know most of his books describe the vulnerability of his chief characters with such pathos. However, I have read that this book is unlike other books in that there is far less description in here and has excitement brimming everywhere in the book. Well other immediate Dickens books i plan to read are ’Great Expectations’ and ’Little Dorritt’.
