Win-win

Posted: Jan 19, 2005 Wed 08:22 pm     Views: 50

This happened with our maid, she has been working for us for over two years now and it had been, or so it seemed that we had, a win-win situation. I have had nothing to complain about her as she has almost never taken chutti, if she takes chutti she arranges for a backup and is very good and diligent at her work. So no complaints from our side, she also was happy with us. [or at least so it seemed]

This year during Diwali, she was apparently not happy with the *bonus* given her and started comparing with other houses where she works. Well, i was astounded and suggested that she does not compare the houses she works for. She was mutinous from then and sulked each time; she never shirked work though and kind of worked with a vengeance. She never opened her mouth, not even to say i am leaving for the day. If i say, chai rakhee hie, she would not even acknowledge!! Anyway this went on for over a month with indifference from one side and ignorance on the other till one fine day she came home about an hour late than her usual time. She had hurt her leg and was not able to walk. She said that she was to go to the government hospital for the injection and the likes. We gave her some medicines and explained to her the various dosages; and that she could take it easy for a while and only do bartan for a couple of days...

She is now back to normal, both physically and mentally. It is a win-win again.
