.....belching, burping and farting are basically members of the same family with similar actions from different sources...like muralitharan or saqlain who deliver their ’doosra’ with the same action but different effects......

males have this immense heat within them which wishes to escape from time to time specially after a heavy masalay-daar chiken kaRhai with lots of kababs, a plate or two of biryani, chased by six glasses of sweet lassi followed by three or four kinds of dessert. this healthy amount of eating, once collected in the cauldron like stomach starts indulging into chemical actions and reactions till there is an implosion ,thereby, creating waves after waves of ’hot air’ which travels at mach 2 and in some cases mach 3, thereby attaining incredible speeds to get out of the constricted space. there being only two outlets for the ’hot air’ in the male body, the strongest reach the two orifices also know as mouth and rectum...since the speed is high and the orifices take time to respond to this emergency exit, a lot of friction is observed which creates sound of varying nature..some in lower bass, some tenor, some baritone and some in extremely high pitched operatic or shall we say in the desi sur sangeet of..sa re ga ma pa dha niiiii....usually the lower bass which is baritone escapes through the mouth and is called a burp or belch....the lethal kind is commonly known as ’farting’ and makes the imcumbant red in the face if the volume of the escaping air is automatically set to high shrill sound...people close by start to snigger or cover their faces with whatever is handy...not realizing that what they just observed, felt, heard and smelled is nothing but some ’hot air’ making a bid for freedom...and we being a free people who love freedom of all kinds....freedom to steal, freedom to murder, freedom to copy in the examination hall, freedom to ask for and obtain bribes, freedom to fart, belch, burp and spit.....you can’t change us and our love of freedom... ;)
