A person’s determination is directly proportional to his level of optimism which in turn is directly proportional to his level of self-esteem. The self-esteem depends on the number, intensity and frequency of positive experiences (positive experiences being the ones that induce positive emotions like excitment, pleasure, relief, joy etc.).
It is, therefore, crucial for a person to have such experiences if he/she is supposed to be determined. By focusing on positive experiences, and not focusing on negative ones, we can nurture our self-esteem and thus be determined.
