I spent three hours at this lebanese place last night on Steinway Blvd in Queens. Its called Layali Beirut....Lovely place...Had Apple flavored Shisha..... Mint Tea..... Grilled Quail and Rice with Pine Nuts....
I played chess with a "ahem" really cute Morrocan....
I was kicking his bony tush but then he was getting a bit antsy, so... I backed off and let him win... A boost for his ego and lots and lots of entertainment for me....
Squirming in his chair... expecting to impress his friends.... half flirting with me... oh well. I was like going in my head, "Sweetie, You are so much fun". Ok, Ok I am kidding, I am not that evil.
So it was a good game, and then two of my friends showed up and we talked about Lahore over arabic coffee, u know the one in a tiny cup with coffee grinds still in it... deep, dark, frothy, smooth way of moving down the throat...with the grinds leaving a rough texture on your tongue and making you want to smack your lips in a satisfaction you didnt know could be reached from a mere cup of coffee.....
My waitress was divinely beautiful, and very sweet...
Lovely lovely girl.. very sweet....
The Green Apple Sheesha was great, the delicious warm clouds of smoke in pastel shades of gray disappearing into the aromatic air of the Cafe.......
Men playing Dominos and Chess!
Waitresses scurrying about carrying food and drinks..
A Tall Egyptian man running with Sheeshas and an elderly arab man speaking gently in arabic and asking me...would I like the coal briquettes of my Shisha changed...
Such Hospitality, great prices, and a free review by yours truly.......
