Are the celebrations of new year universal, or are they merely projected by media to be universal?
Why would an Iranian in Tehran or a Chinese in Beijing celebrate when they have their own calendars? In the case of Iran, they have a Persian new year (Nau Roze), an Islamic (Moharram) and a Gregorian one (January)! In the case of Chinese, one only needs to see their new year parade in NYC (in February) to know where their hearts lie.
Nevertheless, we all may have our own calendars, but we all follow Gregorian. Just like we all may have our own languages, but we all learn English. Just like we all may have our own national dresses, but we all love jeans.
So Happy New Year to all of you ! May the party not end for you on January 1st. May it continue for the remainder of the year too !
