I got this poem in e-mail today. I recall reading it few years back, but was not sure about the last line. A quick search on Google revealed that the author of this poem is not known. Reminds me of a similar song in Chanakya serial byChandraprakash Dwivedi. It had a beautiful song called "hum karein Rashtra avaahan". I don’t know whether this is urban legend or truth but that song’s writer is also not known. THe song caught when the serial was being telecast. Dwivedi also put an ad in the newspapers requesting the writer to reveal his/her name, but there were no takers. I did some search on that song, but could not get the text. If anyone reading this blog finds it, please share it with me.

When I born, I black,
When I grow up, I black,
When I go in sun, I black,
When I cold, I black,
When I scared, I black,
When I sick, I black,
And when I die, I still black.
You white folks....
When you born, you pink,
When you grow up, you white,
When you go in sun, you red,
When you cold, you blue,
When you scared, you yellow,
When you sick, you green,
When you bruised, you purple,
And when you die, you gray.
So who you calling colored folks???
