We queers are traditionally supposed to have a strong visual sense - colour, style, fashion, decor etc. I only wished that applied to me. Although I think I can perceive great art in painting or architecture, it never touches my inner spirit in the way music or literature can. The loss is surely mine. It's frustrating to think that others are getting so much more out of the experience. In fact, the only time colour, per se, can (figuratively) 'knock my socks off' is when contemplating the beauty of a flower - any flower, even the humble buttercup. It really takes my breath away. That itself is an experience to be valued, yes, but I still wish my appreciation covered the entire gamut of visual experience.
