Anyone who knows a hindu (and everyone should know at least one hindu, as there are so many of them), will know that hindus harbor negative feelings towards muslims in general and subcontinent muslims in particular. These may not be apparent in every day life, but deep down, in the seat of the soul, they lay bare, for all to see.
I have always been puzzled by this.
For the most part, apart from the rabid fundoos, us Paki muslims do not hold such negative feelings for hindus.
So, on my week off, I contemplated on several matters including this one.
To understand my veg friends better, I decided to walk a mile in a hindu's shoes.
So off I went to India bazaar and bought some hindu chappal / sandal thingies with that big toe separator thing.
Two things became immediately apparent.
1. Hindus sure do walk in some ugly shoes.
2. The damn things are impractical, and cause injury to the big toe by chafing, as well as what could become permanent nerve injury.
The discomfort by chafing reflects on the face visibly, bringing us the look that is mistaken as the "constipated look".
The nerve damage? We know that some of the neck and face energy centers (acupuncture tradition) are in the big toe. Wearing the sandals for half a mile had significant effects on the nerves. I felt my head started to bob in a weird "yes/no" type movement.
So I threw away those shoes after the mile was over, laced up my own shoes, and walked to the beach to contemplate.
I shall bring forth the gist of my contemplation in a later post today.
